[November, 2014] The 1 meter (40") Alvin Clark refractor at Yerkes Observatory is the largest installed refracting telescope. The observatory was founded in 1897 by George Ellery Hale and operated by the University of Chicago. This view is of the inside of the pier, where some of the inner workings of the telescope drive can be seen. |
